Designed by legendary Donald J. Ross, Fountain Head Country Club has been referred to as a “hidden gem." The course has made minor changes through the years but remains untouched by today’s standards and some consider Fountain Head the only remaining Ross design in Maryland. The course is defined by tree lined fairways and small undulating greens placing a premium on positioning and imagination. The course has four sets of tees and a set of family tees during summer.

Comments on Fountain Head Country Club:
"It's old school and the kind of course that you have to have control and play for position"-Fred Funk, 1987 Maryland Open Champion
"Fountain Head is one of the sportiest courses I have played around the country. It isn't such a hard course, but it is a fooler and don't think you don't have to shoot real golf to take Old Man Par for a ride"-Sam Snead, 1940
"It is so deceiving, I looked up the course details, saw 6,300 yards and was licking my chops. However, it has a lot of subtleties and I learned more each time I played.”-Chip Sullivan 2008 Maryland Open Champion
